[NEWS] 161215 Sports Chosun – Exclusive: JYJ Kim Junsu, ahead of enlistment, to have special collaboration with The Black Skirts
JYJ Kim Junsu lent a hand to one-man band The Black Skirts, ahead of his enlistment next year.
According to a representative in the music industry on the 15th, Kim Junsu showed off his appealing timbre taking part as the vocal in The Black Skirts’s new song that’ll be released soon. Despite having a busy schedule with musical ‘Dorian Gray’ and his year-end solo concert recently, Kim Junsu readily accepted to the collaborative work this time.
The Black Skirts started as a 3-person punk rock band in the United States in 2004; but the members went separate ways and from 2006 member Jo Hyu-il had taken over writing lyrics, composing, and producing. Having reorganized its team as an one-man band afterwards, The Black Skirts is a team that released his 1st album as a limited edition of 10,000 copies in 2008 and attracted attention with its retro style and even at its refined sound and the words of its honest and blunt lyrics. It has hit songs; like ‘Antifreeze’, ‘Love Shine’, and ‘Hollywood’.
Possessing a large fanbase among singers to the extent of being called an ‘artist of artists’, The Black Skirts introduced this collaborative work as a part of the year-end project ‘Working Holiday’ of music label HIGHGRND that he belongs to currently. The Black Skirts undertook writing the lyrics, composing, and producing; and Kim Junsu undertook the singing. The new song that the two persons joined together on is expected to be revealed in the middle of this month.
Meanwhile Kim Junsu will be entering into an army training center in Nonsan, Chungnam on February 9th of next year. Kim Junsu will continue on with his military service as a conscripted policeman in Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency’s Public Relations Unit afterwards.
