[NEWS] JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong Talks About Injuries From “Manhole” Filming
The cast (JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong, UEE, Jung Hye Sung, and B1A4’s Baro) of KBS 2TV’s drama “Manhole” did a V Live broadcast on August 9 to talk about their drama and share behind-the-scenes stories.
Kim Jaejoong, who plays the character Bong Pil, sustained injuries while filming which required 7 stitches on his finger. During the V Live broadcast, the cast brought up the injury. He then opened up about how when he takes off his clothes, there’s not a single place in the lower half of his body that is not covered by a bruise.
“I think you can’t help it,” he said. “People tell me to be careful, but I think it’s important for me as an actor to not be selfish with my body.” He added that the hot weather during filming had also posed a problem for the cast and crew.
Because Kim Jaejoong’s character is time traveling between the past and present, the cast also revealed that he has to constantly change his hair and outfits throughout filming. UEE said, “Up to five times a day!”
The first episode of “Manhole” aired August 9 at 10 p.m. KST.
[NEWS] “Manhole” Cast Talk About What Time In Their Lives They’d Like To Revisit Through Time Travel
On August 9, the cast of “Manhole,” Kim Jaejoong, UEE, B1A4’s Baro, and Jung Hye Sung, held a V Live broadcast to talk about their new drama.
“Manhole” is about a man named Bong Pil (Kim Jaejoong) who falls into a manhole that lets him travel back in time, an ability he uses to stop the marriage of his longtime crush (UEE).
When asked what they would do if given the ability to time travel, Baro said, “I want to return to my high school days. I started training [to become an idol] during my first year of high school so I have no high school friends. I really envied the people around me. I want to go back in time and have fun with my friends.”
In contrast, Jung Hye Sung said, “I want to go to the future. I want to see what I’ll be doing and how I’ll be living 3 or 4 years from now.”
UEE also wanted to go to the future, but for a different reason. “I want to fast-forward to the last episode [of ‘Manhole’],” she said. “We don’t know how the drama ends either, so I want to be the only one of us that knows.”
Kim Jaejoong said, “We got to wear high school uniforms for the drama and it felt good. I didn’t really have a high school life either. Wearing a uniform for the first time in a while made me feel rejuvenated. I think I’d like to revisit any time in the past.”
What time would you like to revisit if you had the power of time travel?

[NEWS] UEE And Kim Jaejoong Share First Impressions Of Each Other
During the press conference for their upcoming drama “Manhole,” JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong and UEE talked about their chemistry on set.
Kim Jaejoong shared, “I didn’t know UEE personally before this [drama], but my image of her was tall and pretty. I thought it would be difficult to approach her since she seemed a bit cold. But once we met, she treated me very comfortably, so I was able to get immersed in my character fairly quickly. Thanks to her, I felt comfortable while acting.”
UEE then expressed, “My image of Kim Jaejoong was cold and charismatic, but when we first met, he was dressed so casually. He matches well with his character Bong Pil, and he’s really good with ad-libs.”
Meanwhile, “Manhole” will be airing its first episode on August 9.

[NEWS/PICS/SNS] 170731 KBS2 Manhole Drama Reveals Main Leads Posters – Kim Jaejoong
[NEWS] Upcoming Drama “#Manhole” Reveals Descriptive Character Posters Of The 4 Main Leads
On July 31, KBS2’s upcoming Wednesday-Thursday drama “Manhole” released character posters of the four main leads, JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong, UEE, Jung Hye Sung, and B1A4’s Baro.
“Manhole” tells the story of an unemployed man named Bong Pil (Kim Jaejoong) who falls into a manhole by accident and ends up traveling back in time. The subtitle of the drama, “Pil in Wonderland” (tentative title), demonstrates how crazy and unusual Bong Pil’s adventure will be.
The drama has already gained attention with its hilarious video teasers, which can be watched here and here.
Kim Jaejoong will take on the role of Bong Pil, the strange time traveler. His 28-year one-sided love for his “friend” Soo Jin (UEE) is forced to come to an end when she announces her marriage with someone else, and he falls into a manhole during that moment of despair. The actor has a cute pout on his face (see featured image), while his poster reads, “You think you can leave me alone and get married with another guy?”
UEE will play Bong Pil’s one-sided love, Soo Jin. She’s the official beauty of the neighborhood, but in addition to her chic and sophisticated visuals, she also has a sloppy side to herself. The poster reads, “You’ll come to my wedding, right? You’re my one and only best friend,” indicating the complications in her relationship with Bong Pil.

Come Aug 9, I will be glued to the screen watching a Korean drama.
To be honest, I am not really a Korean drama fan. The only series I’ve completed watching is Autumn In My Heart. That was way back in 2000 and the lead actress, Song Hye-kyo, remains to this day, in my mind, the most beautiful South Korean actress.
I watched it with my mum then, and it aired on TV around dinner time, and I remember my dad saying, “I think there’s too much crying at the dinner table”. Talk about feeling emotionally overwrought!
I attempted the famous Winter Sonata (2002) but couldn’t get through it, skipping here and there because it was so tragic. I mean, why doesn’t anyone have a happy-ever-after? And that was the end of my K-drama feels.
Later on I found out that, sometimes, there is a running theme/trend for these series, and I was obviously watching the tragic drama era. Since then I’ve tried (and failed) to watch recommendations from friends or hits like the 2014 drama that sold out a YSL lipstick, My Love From The Star.
Now I am once again going to attempt to watch a series to the end because my favourite South Korean star, singer and actor Kim Jae-joong (known as Jaejoong), is making his acting comeback post-military service.
Jaejoong is not just any singer – he’s got a huge fandom that dates back to 2003, and he’s a prolific songwriter, whether as a group member (he’s in the group JYJ) or solo singer (he’s one of the top-selling solo singers in South Korea).

[NEWS] Jaejoong chooses an animal he compares to in ’10+ Star’
JYJ’s Jaejoong recently posed for ’10+ Star’ magazine, describing his role in his upcoming drama ‘Manhole’.
The idol relayed, “I received many project offers once I returned from the army; however, ‘Manhole’ stood out to me the most. Please look forward to my cheerful, yet unpredictable moments on screen.”
When asked what kind of wild animal he would compare himself to, Jaejoong responded, “a catdog,” with laughter. He chose black as the best color that suited him.
More of Jaejoong’s photos can be found in ’10+ Star’s August issue!
