[NEWS] 150615 The most-anticipated production, Musical ‘Death Note’ overwhelmingly No.1
It turns out that the musical of Summer 2015 that audiences are look forward to the most is ‘Death Note’. Kim Junsu and Park Hye-na were selected as the most anticipated male actor and female actress. In all 3 categories, ‘Death Note’ ranked in the top.
Results were conducted in a poll selecting the ‘anticipated musical production and musical actor & actress of Summer 2015’ over the course of 5 days, from [May] 8 to 12; by News Culture –a newspaper specializing in culture– having a total of 3672 of its readers participating in a vote.
First in the anticipated [musical] production, ‘Death Note’ received overwhelming support with 33.18% [of the votes] and was crowned No.1. It was calculated that 1 in 3 people of the respondents voted for ‘Death Note’.
In the male actor category, as expected, the actors who’ll appear in ‘Death Note’ swept the upper rankings. ▲Kim Junsu as L ascending unrivaled in No.1(26.59%), ▲Hong Kwang-ho as Raito[/Light Yagami] in No.2(13.44%), and ▲Kang Hong-seok as Ryuk in No.3(10.37%) had occupied No.1~3 side-by-side.
In the female actress category, ‘Death Note’ also showed strength. ▲Park Hyen-na as Rem ascended to No.1(19.5%) and ▲Jung Sun-ah as Misa was in No.2(19.19%) by a narrow margin.

Two musical titans are meeting on stage in the upcoming production of “Death Note,” based on a popular Japanese comic of the same name.
And the response from fans has been explosive.
The first and second rounds of tickets sold out as soon as they were released online, meaning that 60,000 (roughly 70 percent of all the seats) have already been reserved.
The titans in question are Kim Jun-su and Hong Kwang-ho, who will play the musical’s lead characters L and Light, respectively.
Light is a high school student who one days finds the Death Note, a supernatural object that kills a person whose name is written on it. Light tries to rule the world with this deadly notebook, while detective L tries to stop him.
Kim and Hong – the two most sought-after actors in the musical scene – have joined the show as the main cast. They will therefore go on stage 51 times until October, with no alternates.
It goes without saying that Kim, as a member of the K-pop trio JYJ, possesses enormous star power. His competency as a musical actor was recognized in “Mozart” and “Elizabeth,” both of which sold out all their tickets.
