Japanese-Korean Fusion dining grill “Bum’s Akasaka” was opened December 17th, last year in Akasaka, Tokyo.
This restaurant is the first branch to be opened in Japan which is a collaboration of “Bum’s Story” and Botechu group.
Early in July, after 7 months since Akasaka branch opened, Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Kim Yeong Beom, came to Japan all together.
Despite of their tight schedule, the interview of the president, Kim Yeong Beom, was held at Bum’s Akasaka.
What triggered them to open Japanese-Korean fusion restaurant in Korea is because the president Kim Yeong Beom, had opportunities to have drinks with Jaejoong privately, and they talked about making their own space. Yoochun told him that he wants to join too, so 3 of them decided to open the restaurant.
Kim Yeong Beom originally worked in show business, so he had many friends, and especially he became friends with Jaejoong and Yoochun. He doesn’t see Junsu that much privately because Junsu doesn’t drink alcohol. Yoochun and Kim Yeong Beom have always talked about starting business together, so Yoochun told him that he also wants to join this business.
The concept of “Bum’s Story” in Korea is “casual enjoyable place for foods and drinks (alcoholic beverage)”; JYJ fans and other people, even some celebrities come visit there.
Kim Yeong Beom revealed the origin of the name “Bum’s Story” for the first time.
Jaejoong and Yoochun are both born in the year of tiger (Bumtti) and his name was Yeong Beom, so everyone calls him Brother Bum. The story of all three of them is behind the meaning of the restaurant’s name “Bum’s Story.” According to Yeong Beom, he only told about this to a few relevant people.
The receipt of the restaurant indicates ‘Representative: Kim Jaejoong and 1 other’, but 1 other meant Yoochun and Yeong Beom.

He also mentioned that Jaejoong visits too casually and Yoochun also visits, but not often as Jaejoong. All of the management is done by Kim Yeong Beom, so two of them visit there just like customers. Jaejoong visited before the shooting of the drama. When all 3 have business meeting, they usually meet somewhere else during day time.
Jaejoong and Kim HyunJoong are close friends, so the restaurant was introduced on a TV show. Other celebrities often privately come to the restaurant, so he wants to try to make the place to be enjoyable.
The recommended menu is Spicy Sautéed Seafood because Jaejoong loves spicy food. And Kimchi Jjigae, Salad, Salmon Carpaccio are also very popular on the menu.
Yeong Beom visits the Japanese branch on regular basis in order to manage the restaurant and to feel the customers’ reactions directly.
The interview like this was first time for Kim Yeong Beom in both Korea and Japan.

So this explains the story behind Soulmates’ The Bums. So one good thing in drinking and chatting is a possible conception of a business partnership. 🙂
