With the success of Sungkyunkwan Scandal and Rooftop Prince, Park Yoochun has managed to carve a niche for himself in the hearts of Filipino viewers.
Recently, the former TVXQ band member, who has made the successful transition from KPop Idol to one of Korea’s serious actors, is cementing his street cred with his latest drama, Missing You.
In this heavy drama about two young lovers separated by tragedy and reunited after more than a decade, Yoochun is teamed up with equally popular actress and endorsement model Yoon Eun Hye (Goong, Coffee Prince, and My Fair Lady).
In Missing You, Yoochun and Eun Hye play the role of Julius Han and Joy Lee, respectively. Julius is the son of a wealthy businessman while Joy is the daughter of a man executed for murder. Because of her father, Joy is an outcast in school. Julius befriends Joy and takes it upon himself to defend her from the school’s bullies. They eventually fall in love and promise to never leave each other no matter what.
But one day, Julius is kidnapped by his father’s rivals in business. Keeping true to her promise, Joy tries to intervene and save Julius from his abductors only to be kidnapped as well. The young boy manages to escape but leaves Joy behind. Returning to the warehouse after being rescued by his father’s henchmen, Julius finds Joy gone. A manhunt for the missing girl proves fruitless, leading police to conclude that Joy is dead. But Julius is not convinced and makes it his life mission to look for his missing girlfriend, even after he gets thrown out of his house by his father.
Fourteen years later, a grown up Julius is now a homicide detective. He is still on a quest to find Joy, believing that she is still alive.
Meanwhile, Joy, who was rescued and brought to France by the people who had Julius abducted, returns to Seoul as Zoe, an upcoming fashion designer who has a bright personality and a future ahead of her. Little do people know that she has secrets and a dark past.
Julius and Joy cross paths again with Julius hellbent on proving that Zoe is Joy, the girl he loved and the person he has been looking for, and Zoe just as determined to keep the truth from him.
Aired from Monday to Friday at ABS-CBN Primetime Bida, Missing You is another drama to watch out for.
Hallyu star
Before he became an actor, Yoochun was a member of TVXQ, one of the first groups in South Korea that started the Hallyu wave. When three of the members, including Yoochun, left the group in 2009, they formed another group with the name JYJ.
Despite the members’ lawsuit against their former talent agency which kept them from promoting in music shows in South Korea and Japan, JYJ still managed to be one of the popular KPop groups in the world. They even collaborated with Kanye West for their first English album ‘The Beginning” and staged sold-out concerts in South America, a first for a Korean group.
Yoochun also plays the piano and composes songs for JYJ. He wrote the song “I Love You” which was included in “The Beginning” and “Get Out” with his band mate Jaejoong. The song was the carrier single of their second album “In Heaven”.
Award-winning actor
Yoochun started acting when he was still in TVXQ for their Banjun Dramas and little cameos they did for some shows. What set him off as an established actor was when he won numerous recognitions in 2010 such as Best New Actor, Netizens Awards, Most Popular Male Actor, People’s Choice Award, and Outstanding Korean actor from respectable award giving bodies in South Korea for his role as Lee Sun-Joon in Sungkyunkwan Scandal.
For his portrayal of the role of Lee Gak in Rooftop Prince, Yoochun was awarded the Excellence Actor Award in the 2012 SBS Drama Awards. Recently, he won the Popularity Award and Excellence Drama Award for Missing You in the 2012 MBC Drama Awards held earlier this year.
Note: ‘Missing You’ is currently broadcasted in the Philippines by ABS-CBN, and is going strongly in primetime with 13.1% viewership ratings nationwide against ‘Queen In-Hyun’s Man’ (9.2%) and ‘Giant’ (2.5%).

Yeah!! clap2x mga PINOY!! :))
Yes, Yoochun-ah hasn’t even appeared yet. I’m expecting to see him next week.
He even beat “Best Love” from the other network which “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw” failed to do.
ABS-CBN made a good move in putting him on prime time.
Congrats Chunnie!
hello CJES Ent! you see PARK YOOCHUN FEVER?! bring him here in the PHILIPPINES!!
ditto!
hear hear!
special guests will be JS & JJ^^
I certainly spazz that someone from our country’s paper actually wrote an article about Chunnie and kept reading it over and over. The writer did pretty good research too and was actually beginning to think that she was a fan but she failed to mention certain factors that one would’ve definitely mention if they were a fan; such as Chun committing a “grand slam” in just three years of his acting career.
Anyways, I have my fair share of complaints with the way they’re airing Missing You. 😐
Go ABS-CBN , please promote Yoochun more, with your global network who needs SK tv.
Krissy, i never knew about this, huhuhu Ive been too busy with work i dont have time to watch tv anymore 😦
Hope ABS-CBN would invite Yoochun, Jaejoong and Junsu to the Philippines soon. I would throw away work and rebel to my bosses if that happens 🙂
Hello sis, actually I’m not also watching tv, even with national/international news I just follow news sites in twitter, lol
and I already watched the full drama in full, follow it week by week when it was aired in SK but I’m hopeful ABS-CBN will be enticed by YC’s charm, bigatin sila mag promote who knows eventually we can see YC’s billboards everywhere. I’m so envious of the giant images of LeeMinHo here in CDO.
edit: “the whole drama in full “
I wish Chunnie would start doing another drama, or maybe a movie this time. I don’t want this FEVER in the Philippines to ever end. I want this sickness to last forever, and for the fanbase to just multiply. I want him to move here and make this his home country (SK doesn’t seem to appreciate him, anyways). So many wants, so what, it’s free to dream! Come on over, we’ll show you the true Pinoy hospitality.
JYJ, love you ….. FOREVER!
Reblogged this on luminarytriad.
Yuchun fever will never be over…..more to come when the right project comes…one of the highly praised kpop-dol that would bring joy to u and move u when u watched his drama. ABS -CBN is truly a home of Asian-telenovela.
Lucky ABS CBN for getting that percent or views!
Yes this was a really good program I watched on vacation non stop on Hulu I would go out and race back to see what happened next.
OMG! I skimmed the title and I thought Yoochun HAD a fever and all the comments are like.. “Hope this fever never ends!”
I was thinking “You fiends!!!” but now I see why. I need to slow down a bit.
Thank you Manila Standard Today for featuring a quite comprehensive article about Yoochun and of course ABS-CBN for airing Missing You on prime time. Wish it could be earlier so more people can watch it.
Chunnie fever will never be over!
Good couple (YEH n Yoo chun)…..always 4ever chukkaio

You really make it seem so easy along with your presentation however I find this topic to be actually one thing that I
think I might by no means understand. It seems too complicated
and extremely broad for me. I am having a look forward for your
next post, I will attempt to get the grasp of it!
I like what you guys tend to be up too. This kind of clever work and exposure!
Keep up the good works guys I’ve incorporated you guys to my own blogroll.
Hi there, I enjoy reading through your article post.
I like to write a little comment to support you.
At this time it looks like Expression Engine is the best blogging platform out there right now.

blog?
Hello just wanted to give you a quick heads up and let you know a few of the images aren’t loading properly.
I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue. I’ve tried
it in two different browsers and both show the same
results.
I am sure this article has touched all the internet visitors, its
really really pleasant piece of writing on building up new weblog.

There’s certainly a lot to learn about this topic. I like
