T/N: This is a fan account written by both my sister and I (we went together), and that’s why sometimes we use “we” and sometimes “I” in the account, and the tone/sentence structures might seem different a times since it’s by two different people. Just want to explain so you won’t think I am schizophrenic lol. ! I hope you guys enjoy reading 🙂
“My twin sister and I went to the concert together. We only got there at 7:00 so unfortunately we didn’t really get to mix with the other fans. I will say that most of the people there is Asian, but there was a surprising mix of non-Asians there too. It was actually kind of funny because there is apparently another event at the Staples stadium (which is right across from the Nokia Theatre), and so there were huge lines everywhere.
We got some free light sticks from one of the fan groups (sorry I didn’t have time to see which T__T) when we got there, and then we went to line up at one of the lines. They were relatively short so it was alright. The doors open pretty early, around 7:10-ish, and it was very organized. There was a security check, but it went pretty fast, and we were inside in several minutes.
We didn’t really want to miss anything so we went to find our seats ASAP. Before I forget, I just want to say that I had a blast with Diana who sat next to my sister. It was all of our first concerts ever so we had a lot of fun together 🙂 We also met Tristan (sp?), a very enthusiastic fanboy! He was a great guy and fan! Also, thank you to the fan next to me who let me have one of her extra light sticks when mine broke!
Right before the concert started, we saw Junsu’s dad and mom just several rows in front of us so we went down to ask for a picture/handshake. I kind of chickened out at the last minute. My sister got a picture, but I felt pretty bad/rude since there were like 9 fans all crowded in a tight spot so I just asked for a quick handshake with Junsu’s dad. His parents seemed really nice. They didn’t refuse the fans at all even though it must have been pretty annoying to be swarmed like that (at least that is what I thought). I still feel really lucky though. And Junsu’s mom was really pretty!
When it was 8 pm, I looked around and about 50-60% of the seats were filled. I would have liked it to be a sold out concert but with no promotion and the short notice, I think it was a great turnout. And all the fans were screaming their heads off and jumping up and down, I didn’t feel it was empty at all. Oh, there were two guys in the row in front of us and they seemed to have been dragged by their friend (sister?) to the concert and at first they were all like, “who are they???” But then I noticed them swaying to some of the songs (especially “Get Out”) and one of them shouted “JYJ” with us to get the boys to come out after the end XD.
Everyone has probably already heard the songs so there isn’t much I want to say except you NEED to hear them sing live. They were very passionate on stage and I loved every minute of the 2 hour concert (it was way too short)! There wasn’t really anything bad to write about the concert other than a small technical glitch in the middle of a song which caused the two screens on the sides to malfunction, but they got fix by the next song so it wasn’t a big problem. Another thing I want to mention is how a lot of the fans dislike the female dancers 😦 I thought they were fine, sexy, and exciting, but there was a really big difference between the reactions of the fans for the male versus female dancers during the dancer break time. I tried to cheer for the females even though my voice is about gone by that time lol. And the Yunjae thing isn’t as obvious or blatant as some people might have thought from the pictures or comments. I seriously didn’t see any YJ signs at all (but then again we didn’t get a chance to really walk around). Inside the stadium, most people were holding the white JYJ signs. I didn’t hear anyone yelling other people’s names or group’s names either. All I heard was “JYJ!” and it was awesome!
There were a lot of highlights in this concert. My favorite would have to be dancing to “Be my Girl Remix” with JYJ. I actually didn’t know the dance before coming to the concert, but they replayed the video 3 times while we were waiting for the concert to start so everyone in our row practiced then 😀 And of course, “In Heaven” was absolutely beautiful too. I totally forgot to do anything in that song. I just stared at the stage and listened… there’s really no way to explain it.
Also, Diana told us that some fans were planning to sing “Happy Birthday” to Yoochun since his birthday is coming up soon, but there wasn’t too much fan organization at this event so no one knew when to start lol. At the end of the concert, some people just shouted ‘Happy Birthday’ to Yoochun. I think some girls were trying to start it up, but because no one knew what they were doing, it didn’t end well. I hope the San Jose fans can come up with a good time to sing this to Yoochun. Oh, we saw Shane and John (Egg) at the end and we got a picture with them too! John was like, “Are you guys twins?” and when we said, “yes,” he grinned really big!
I had a superb time today (even though I starved for 5 hours and lost my jacket lol), and I will definitely go again if they come back to LA next year! It’s hard to explain to people outside to the fandom what JYJ and this concert means to us, but I think you guys can understand. I hope everyone can have a chance to see them live on stage because that’s where they truly belong!”

i’m disappointed at some fans not cheering for the female dancers. They’re human too why are some fangirls so immature? those ladies are just doing their work. Dance is their profession and all that touching is only work god damn it == i really respect those female dancers~ is not easy dancing in a crowd and esp fans just screaming JYJ only =) and for them to take dance as a profession is really awesome and admiring~ i learn ballet myself so i really like JYJ US female dancers~ they’re a total different level! and some of them are really cool ^^ esp sarah, telisha, staci~ all damn awesome =D i hope fans will at least cheer for them. stop bashing on them esp telisha ==
haha glad u enjoyed yourself ^^ LOL at shane~ he’s just so funny esp during the con with his tweets XD
I agree! JYJ wanted to add sexiness and sensuality to the show; the fan cams really reflect that! The female dancers deserve cheers for adding to that sexiness, for sure. Just imagine yourself up on stage dancing and getting to touch each member! With only guy dancers as backup; not really! Thank you Jeri Slaughter and Crew!
@BarbaraDBolton
There’s one additional factor that may be important: the girls and their interactions with the guys were extremely appropriate for young single men who LIKE women! It seemed to me a further signal to fans that the days of the scripted “pairings” that characterized them wrongly as liking each other in a romantic way are OVER. NO more of that. These beautiful young men love women. And it’s a great thing! Aren’t we all women? Aren’t we glad that they love women? I think so.
So you are using scripted, on-stage behaviour as your support for your assertion that they like girls? The scripted behaviour of very talented actors. Do you see the irony in this at all?
A point to note: if any or all of them did also find the other gender attractive, there is no way that they would be able to use that as a means of sensual expression in their show. Anywhere in the world. (“Ride On” in ~T~ notwithstanding) They are restricted to heteronomative sensuality by default.
@Eliza
Well…. I read your post 3 times in a row and honestly I have to tell you, I don’t understand what you are trying to say. It’s probably some insufficiency of mine. But I will stand by my earlier assessment.
You said: “The scripted behaviour of very talented actors. Do you see the irony in this at all?”
No, not really. I’m sorry. I continue to believe that the “pairing” acting out was a strategy orchestrated by SM to titillate young girls. Heaven knows, these boys (as they then were) were nothing if not willing to do whatever it took to promote The 5… And yes, as we have seen, they are VERY talented actors, each one of them.
But it seems like maybe we’re just not going to agree here. That’s fine, but what I continue to have a problem with is the very public humiliation a gentle, hard-working, talented man like Jaejoong has to put up with. It’s not right. And once again, I would just ask you, Eliza–how would you like it? If people were standing outside your place of work with big placards, proclaiming your alleged homosexual orientation?
No. It’s wrong.
@Lilibaiyu
I am NOT condoning what the rabid YJers do. But not because they suggest that Jaejoong is gay, but because they INSIST that Yunho and Jaejoong continue to participate in their fantasy of their relationship. A fantasy that, as you said, was scripted, although much less so than the interaction of the boys with the dancers, because these guys were actually friends at one point.
All that I pointed out was assuming that the boys are straight because of a scripted interaction on stage is jumping to just as much of a conclusion. In this case, however, a socially acceptable one, so no one will call you delusional for it. But I will point out the irony.
I will also admit that the insistence that the boys are straight with the implication that anything else would make them…less has been getting up my nose for years. This is why using their interaction with the dancers as “proof” of this preferable state, also irritates me. It’s not proof. And it’s not a preferable state. The preferable state would be if they were bisexual — like me. 😉
@Eliza, @Lilibaiyu;
Dear sisters, I love you both. I have to say that I agree with Lilibaiyu. Eliza, you’re forgetting a very important thing: Asian culture is very different to ours. For centuries they’ve kept the idea of male-male pairing as a stimulant sexual behaviour towards both men and women. The idea of the famous “fan services” was born because of that. And that’s what many asian famous singers always offer to their fans. Gackt and his Gackt Job, for example, always offers “fan services” to his “Dears”; male-male interaction. And that’s what SME taught to TVXQ boys to do. Fan services; male-male interaction. Always suggesting that they had relationships between them. After watching his performances, JYJ’s boys reactions at stage, and after watching 3hree Voices II, I’m more than certain that they’re absolutely straight. No doubt about that.
@Eliza
“I am NOT condoning what the rabid YJers do. But not because they suggest that Jaejoong is gay, but because they INSIST that Yunho and Jaejoong continue to participate in their fantasy of their relationship. ”
Yes, in fact, I agree with you that the interaction with the dancers was scripted too, of course it was. But here’s the difference I see: it was according to the wishes of JYJ and JYJ ONLY. Here we have the new paradigm, that which is so profoundly wonderful about JYJ, going forward. What they do, how we see them, is according to their own design and no one else’s agenda. That’s a difference worth noting and celebrating, I think.
You said: “I will also admit that the insistence that the boys are straight with the implication that anything else would make them…less has been getting up my nose for years. And once again, I will agree with you that yes, whatever their sexual orientation is (or more pointedly, I believe it’s basically Jaejoong that is being singled out these days) it’s FINE. I have no problem with it, whatever his preference is. Honestly. What I have a BIG problem with, is the YunJae Crazies with the placards and the leaflets, loudly promoting their nonsense in public among fans who just came to a concert for the love of The Three and the love of their music. One thing I’m reasonably sure of: whatever Jaejoong decides to do behind closed doors he wishes to keep private. Can we not respect that? I think he deserves at least that much from his fans now.
Eliza, I live in the U.S. in a city that is especially accepting of alternative lifestyles. I have spent my life working in an industry that has many, many gay men and women. Hey–my next door neighbors, 2 adorable lovely women, are gay! PLEASE don’t assume that I am homophobic, because if you do, you miss my point. My point is that the YunJae thing is really old news, wrong-headed and insulting to the artist that Jae has become and it needs to stop. That’s it. There is NO further extrapolation that’s going to be of any use to the discussion beyond that.
Whew! Sorry for being so long-winded. I just really want you to understand where I’m coming from.
🙂
@Lilibaiyu
I completely agree with everything you are saying, and if I found something that sounded homophobic I would come right out and say so. (I’ve been around here long enough that you guys should know that by now. 😀 ) I think we’ve got into a parallel conversation where we are really talking about two different things.
I was basically rolling my eyes at ALL assumptions of sexual orientation based on stage performances or promotions. I agree that JYJ getting to exactly what they want to do on stage and have as their public personae is something to celebrate, but it still has nothing to do with who they would prefer to take to bed, in private, after the show. And it doesn’t matter!
I’ve been holding this in a bit (a lot, in the past few weeks), and I think I picked your comment to respond to because it did tweak that nerve, and I knew that this wouldn’t blow up into something it didn’t need to be. Thanks for proving me right about that. 🙂

Well, again, no offense was ever meant or intended and if I inadvertently stepped on a sensitive toe, I really apologize for that. I also started getting the feeling that we’ve been running parallel with each other instead of intersecting. 🙂 You’ve given me much to think about in our discussions, causing me to organize my thoughts and you’ve really helped me better understand not only your point of view but also, my own.

Hey, girlfriend. Thanks for your always kind words and also for your insight. What a wise lady you are. I think we’re slowly going to meet somewhere in the middle, Eliza and I. I understand where she’s coming from and I empathize a lot because MY whole point is, let’s leave this wonderful artist that we all feel like we know and love, Jaejoong, to his own devices, let’s just butt out of his intimate life, no matter what it turns out to be. But for God sakes, no more of the crazed Yunjae crap. It’s just so THEN.

Me too. *sighs* >< Let's not give up.
Thank you for sharing your story. I belive everybody who came to JYJ concert will be back again next time.
everybody who came to JYJ concert will be back again next time – – I’ll add this to my prayer ^^
@puti ,I’ll be there ,in every concert in LA….
🙂
and I’m ready for SAN JOSE tooooooo
🙂
I don’t know but I in the sections that were 2nd to the last and I thought the seats were about say 80% full. I thought it was a good crowd. And yeah, I noticed that fans didn’t really cheer for both male and female dancers during the dance break but everyone did cheer for the dancers after they finished.
It looked really full on the live streaming cam. I was just thrilled for them. The crowd was really responsive and looked like they were having a GREAT time. And I thought the guys were singing so well–they really seemed at the top of their game last night.
Yay!
For the record,the seats at two wind areas were not on sale,so,we could say that we’ve got a full house ,and alot of people didn’t sit at their seat,they left and move to the front ,near the stage …just standing their and …keep screaming out loud,even when JYJ were talking ,(it was so annoying)…
And it was the best concert that I have ever been to – it was sooooooooooo AMAZING!!JYJ was full-speed hi-drive last night! The crowd was incredibly receptive and THEY interacted so much. It felt so good to be that close to such a great performer . I’ve been a very huge fan since 2007…the show starts and J is soooo close to me and I couldn’t believe how thin he is.He looked at me at pointed at us a couple times and smiled because we were screaming and dancing like a nut. I can’t even tell you how happy it made me….I’m sure he doesn’t even remember it but it meant something to me….since I’ve been a fan from THE 5…just to have J say ANYTHING to me at all. ….?????
Just those couple of seconds that he actually looked I seriously never thought that I could love J more than I did….but now I do. The BOYS is f*** amazing and the show was kick a**! I won’t ever forget tonight….anything about it. It was totally my favorite JYJ moment EVER!
I’m sure I’m rambling but whatever….I’m soooooo excited and it was just an all around classic night for me. I have been to some trully amazing shows. However, this topped the cake for sure. Amazing choreography, great vocal abilities, outstanding costume, outrageous video backround, and special effects, had all captured my complete attention to nothing but to a sheer blast.
It was great to see JYJ have fun doing what they do, and actually converse with the crowd playfully.As mentioned, they sounded absolutely amazing vocally. They were able to hit all those high and low notes with seemingly easy ability….EMPTY,I CAN SOAR,MISSION,STILL IN LOVE ,NINE,FALLEN LEAVES ,IN HEAVEN gave me chills with them… I had an absolutely amazing time, and I know that I will be talking about the show for weeks to everyone.
To all the fans who have yet to see JYJ….you will have the time of your lives.
WOW thank you for written!!!
🙂
I was there last night with two friends (both of who were new to JYJ) and it was an incredible experience. We had the cheap seats, but as the venue was smaller than I thought, they weren’t actually so bad – the screens helped a lot, and we actually moved to the center when we saw that there were available seats (and it was dark and no one chased us out – lol).
They are definitely a live act – songs that I didn’t care for on the cd became new and exciting and incredible live – (they should put out a live cd/concert remix, I would obviously buy it) and yeah, aside from the two screens that went glitchy halfway through, the concert ran very smoothly. I was so impressed by all of them – especially Junsu (oh my goodness, his VOICE – the power and the sustaining notes) and so happy after the end of it. Thanks to the lovely fan group(s?) that were passing out the red light sticks – mine went kind of temperamental half way in and would not stay on – I was pushing that button like a boss, yo.
Lots of different fans of all ages and nationalities there – I was originally sitting in front of some Korean noona fans and then I switched behind some Chinese photographers, but yeah – I saw girls, and boys, and families there and it was such a great time. My friends were really impressed by them. If they come back to LA, I’ll definitely go again. Hopefully I’ll be able to return to Korea soon (I was an English teacher there) and I’ll be able to see them on their home turf.
Also, my JYJ 3hree Voices II DVD arrived today! Who has the best Memorial Day Weekend ever? I believe that is me. 😀
also thanks to everyone who were in the awesome seats and got hd pictures/video. I took some flip videos just for the memories, but I’m glad there are fancams out there to relive the moments. ❤
jelours..^_____^
hahah! for me, it’s not that i wasn’t cheering for the dancers to spite them. i was recovering from all the lightstick waving and stuff for jyj. so i rested when they were not on stage. and it’s not like i discriminated against the girl dancers either. i didn’t even cheer for the males XDDDDD
I thought the dancers were just perfect as can be. I feel bad that great as they are, my eyes were on the JYJ 95% of the time.
Hi there everyone! I’m a newbie at this, but I just couldn’t help it and post something also. I was at the concert in LA as well, and it was amazing. I was at the very front and let me tell you, all 3 guys are extremely good looking and have beautiful voices. I’m so happy that I got to go, and if I get another chance I will definitely go again!
welcome ^_____________^
Thank you for the welcome you guys, I seriously cant believe I saw Jaejoong up close! I love all three of them but Jaejoong has always been my favorite. Junsu now falls a close second, i have fallen for the dolphin charisma! I swear at one point Junsu saw me and smiled!!!
@w13,welcome to home sweet home ,dear…
I hate that some fans were not supportive of the female dancers. I remember when a lot of fans were saying that JYJ needed to have girl dancers to dispel any misconception that they are gay by the American audience who may not accept them if they were perceived as gay. Now they have sexy, beautiful women dancing with them on stage and some people aren’t happy.
Personally, I am happy with the female dancers. They all seem so cute and nice. I wish I was living in LA, who knows I may have danced with JYJ, hehe. I am a dancer and I have friends who are dancers in LA…it’s all about the connections, ne? lol
Anyway, I’m glad that majority of the JYJ fans that I know and talk to are supportive of the female dancers. To those who aren’t, I say, “get over it!”
I don’t know about the others but I absolutely love their US dancers. Even more so than their Korean dancers xD
i like their US back up dancers alot XD i surfed the net for their profile and BAM so much awesomeness~
I like their female dancers a lot, they are super talented and sexy. I hope they continue to work with them when they come back ( because in my mind they have to come back, so I can get the chance to see them LIVE. I know I may be selfish).
I hope people all over the world will stop for the freak sake analyzing these men sexuality, and/or shoving in their face of what they expect them to be sexually. I am getting nauseated ( and I usually try really hard not to comment negatively because my affection for what JYJ men stand for). These men are working so hard in everything they do, and they love their fans, but we also have to love them enough to allow them to express freely.
99% of us (women or men) will never get the chance to be close to them let alone know who they are sexually. As YuChun wonderfully puts it: “F… off, no more talk.” Let’s give a break.
Amen!
@daebaksama
“As YuChun wonderfully puts it: “F… off, no more talk.” Let’s give a break.”
Sounds like a plan.
hmm~ to me it seemed like the venue was pretty full~ only the really far back seats had some empty spaces, and the sides weren’t really for sale if i’m not wrong~
also, we did scream for the female dancers, but after like the first 2 or 3 female dancers did their solo, it kinda stopped (tired? lol~idk, but i still screamed cuz they deserve it)
I am one of the person who wrote this fan account :). To clear up the confusion about some parts… I didn’t know the wing parts weren’t for sale so I think it’s about 75-85% full then. The more expensive seats in the front were all full. But I was sitting in the middle so it was more obvious that there were empty seats in this section and the back as well.
And of course the female dancers… it just seems that fans were just not as enthusiastic about them. Plus for some reason, several of the people we sat with didn’t like them at all 😦
Anyways I am glad to hear so many people having a blast at the concert! I really enjoy reading all the comments here!
thank you for the lovely fan acc ^_^ glad u enjoyed yourself~ oh well about the female dancers…i can only hope fans mature up >< these ladies deserve respect~ being a dancer ain't easy at all ==
@Stacy
Yes, a really great fan account. The hall looked plenty full and more importantly, full of ecstatic fans having the time of their lives.
It was so great to see that. The guys were really “on” last night, that’s for sure. I think it’s safe to say a fantastic time was had by all.
🙂
thank you!
Thank you for this marvelous fanaccount.
I liked so much the dancers and their performances. I think Jaejoong is an absolut genius for having the idea of adding more sensuality to the stage. And I enjoyed so much watching JYJ’s interactions with the dancers; HOOOT. I definitely have to see them live as soon as I have the opportunity, to enjoy their amazing voices and songs at a new level.
lol EVERYONE knows Tristan
he’s the junsu fanboy isn’t he? cuteeee 🙂
